Is there anything I can do about all this spam?

If you’re getting a lot of spam, there’s may not be a whole lot you can do about it other than changing your email address (I’d recommend gmail) and/or getting a good spam blocker (like Cloudmark).  However, the FTC has set up an email address to which you can forward suspicious emails and, in theory, they will attempt to locate the offenders and prosecute any illegal activity.  Forward any messages you think may be deceptive to spam@uce.gov. There is a group of people who take an aggressively proactive approach as well, attempting to perform “reverse scams” with which to waste the scammer’s time and money.  While I probably wouldn’t recommend trying this yourself, (in some cases it may actually be illegal,) it can be interesting to read what this group has succeeded in getting these scammers to go through for their ne’er-forthcoming reward:
