When starting Internet Explorer 8, a pop-up welcome screen may display, prompting you to learn about the new features and how to manage IE8 settings. While you can choose “Next” or “Ask Me Later”, some users have reported that the welcome screen will reappear from time to time, which can be a bit of an annoyance. Fortunately, it’s very easy to disable this welcome screen from appearing again by making a simple tweak to the Windows registry. Use the following procedure to disable the Internet Explorer 8 Welcome Screen:
1.Click the start menu, click Run and type Regedit and press Enter.
2.Navigate to the following branch in the Registry Editor:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
3. Create a REG_DWORD value named DisableRun
4. Double-click DisableRun and set its value data to 1.
5. Exit the Registry Editor
